About Gene Tulman

Dr. Gene Tulman, pen name G.T. Tulman, is a double board-certified physician with a background in Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. He is a man of many talents and wears multiple hats. Tulman was born in 1981 in Kishinev, Moldova – then a part of the Soviet Union – and immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, in 1990 with his parents, aunt’s family, and grandparents. This bi-cultural experience, coupled with the influence of Russian literature, shaped his lifelong love of writing.

As a native Russian speaker, Tulman’s first three English words were “thank you” and “garbage.” He has always been a lifelong learner and avid reader, bringing a wealth of medical knowledge to his work. His early endeavors in journalism led him to serve as a staff writer and later an editor at Stony Brook University’s newspaper, which helped him hone his communication skills.

G.T. Tulman graduated with honors from New Utrecht High School, Brooklyn, New York, in 1999. In 2003, he received a BS degree in Psychology (Magna Cum Laude) from Stony Brook University. He earned his MD degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 2007. He also completed an Anesthesiology Residency there in 2011, earning the Resident of the Year Award the same year.

He completed a Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York 2012.

G.T. Tulman holds dual board certifications in Anesthesiology (2012) and Critical Care Medicine (2013) from the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and currently practices Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. An avid reader, he is known for his creative writing prowess and unique writing style. His love for literature fuels his passion for writing appealing fiction.
